This VIRTUAL training provides an overview of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), identifies risk factors, and describes ways to reduce the risk of SIDS in child care.

In this virtual training, participants will:

1. Understand the difference between Time In and Time Out.

2. Understand the importance of developing a plan; be ready to deal with difficultbehaviors before they are needed.

3. Understand the “function” of a child’s behavior.

4. Understand how to respond to a child who exhibits challenging behavior.

5. How to use peer partnering to support the development of social-emotional skills.

This session of the series on trauma-responsive care begins with exploring how trauma may influence infants and toddlers. Participants will unpack why the experience of trauma for babies and toddlers can have a significant influence on their development. This session will also explore the concepts of risk and protective factors, as well as resilience. They will examine specific within-child and external protective factors and reflect on how to promote and strengthen each protective factor for babies and toddlers to foster their resilience.
