Connections Matter is a community effort that aims to foster caring relationships with children, families, and adults to develop healthy brains, supportive relationships, and thriving communities. The training is designed to engage community members in building caring connections to improve resiliency, prevent childhood trauma, and understand how our interactions with others can support those who have experienced trauma. The initiative utilizes an evidence-informed program to demonstrate how Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) adversely affect brain development and health outcomes, and how caring connections serve as a buffer against the negative effects of trauma.
