This In-PERSON TRAINING provides an overview of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), identifies risk factors, and describes ways to reduce the risk of SIDS in child care.
Deep Breathing: A Connection to Calm

This training is geared towards informing, assessing, and providing strategies to support the skill of deep breathing and making the connection to help children learn how to calm. Participants will assess their own responses and reactions in relation to deep breathing by creating an environment that naturally promotes this crucial skill to early social-emotional development. They will learn about the importance of and evidence-based research on why breathing with children matters. This training will provide you with an understanding of your relationship with yourself, your children, and your teaching team/s.
Emergency Preparedness and Response

This EPR in Child Care training for early educators is an IN-PERSON training. NC Child Care Rules require that all family child care home operators and one staff person per child care center complete the EPR training by July 2017. The session will last approximately two hours and covers planning and preparing for emergencies in early care and education settings. It includes an overview and an introduction to the online EPR Plan template and covers questions about the assignment, practicing, responding and recovery related to emergencies.

Staying on Track: The Importance of schedules and routines

Why are daily classroom routines and schedules so important in the daily lives of teachers and young children? How does following a consistent daily schedule with embedded routines support the social and emotional development of the children in your class? What can we do to help children ‘stay on track’ as they move through a typical preschool day? Through this training, you will receive answers to these questions and develop a deeper understanding of the role of schedules and routines in supporting healthy social-emotional development for all children.
Playground Safety Pt. 1

This is an IN-PERSON (DCDEE) required training for child care administrators, covers common playground hazards and safety practices. This class is only for Martin and Pitt counties. Part 2 will be on-site once the trainers have had a chance to conduct a time to come by.
